Research The new H-VLPL PIC/fl uid hybrid simulation code is under development. It is going to feature a fluid model, which, in order to avoid numerical damping and dispersion, uses a staggered grid with optimized discretization schemes. For the electromagnetic solver including the new fluid discretization has the second order accuracy. The code will be specially designed to meet the extreme requirements for simulations in the SM-PDPWFA regime. Several enhancements can be thought of in order to extend the field of applications. First, an exponential integrator scheme is being developed for the fluid solver, alleviating the need to resolve plasma oscillations. Moreover, the present model might be extended with a quasistatic fi eld description for effi cient long time simulations.
